Holger Jacobsen is a marine diesel engine specialist with over 25 years of senior management experience cost-effectively maximizing engine performance and efficiency. Mr. Jacobsen has been privileged to have held senior roles at two of the largest and most respected companies in the marine industry: MAN B&W Diesel, the world's largest marine diesel engine designer and manufacturer, and Teekay Shipping, one of the world's leading energy shipping companies, transporting more than 10 percent of the world's sea-borne oil.
Mr. Holger Jacobsen served MAN B&W for 23 years in several high-profile leadership roles: Service Manager for seven years in charge of MAN B&W's Service Centre in Australia, and then Service Manager of the company's largest oversea sales service centre in Singapore for five years in charge managing the workshop and all field service. Prior to these positions, Mr. Jacobsen worked for MAN B&W's office in Copenhagen traveling around the globe to rectify situations in which serious marine diesel engine failure and damage had occurred to minimize vessel off hire time. Due to Mr. Jacobsen's superior technical expertise, MAN B&W also put him in charge of an Engine Performance Evaluation team to optimize engine performance, which in turn lowers vessel emissions. This experience and extensive knowledge of engine performance evaluation and optimization provided the foundation for Danica Diesel's focus on maximizing performance and minimizing pollution.
During Mr. Jacobsen's time with MAN B&W he developed extensive hands on knowledge of diesel engineering and operations and established an unparalleled network of business contacts in the industry, largely as a result of his exceptional knowledge of anything remotely diesel engine related and his extraordinary interpersonal skills.
From 2001 to 2004 Holger Jacobsen held the position of Diesel Engineering Manager with Teekay Shipping Ltd. One of Mr. Jacobsen's roles at Teekay was identifying leading marine industry suppliers and innovators and forming strategic partnerships with them. Mr. Jacobsen's contributions to Teekay were significant: he played an active role in an initiative to reduce the Teekay fleet's cylinder oil consumption by 15%, and increased overhaul intervals of main and auxiliary engines in two steps (20% and 25% respectively) without increasing the machinery failure ratio. He also implemented diesel performance analysis for the Teekay's worldwide fleet, ensuring compliance with Marpol Annex 6 emission regulations.
Holger Jacobsen established Danica Diesel in February 2005 as a competitive technical consulting and equipment provider to service a variety of diesel engine-related markets. Presently he is also an appointed consultant for MAN B&W for all two-stroke and four-stroke diesel engines, Managing Director for Lemag Inc. USA and Technical Director for Hong Kong based shipping company Eight Ships Ltd.
Mr. Jacobsen has been an Associate Member of the Institute of Marine Engineers Membership since 1993 and possesses an Advanced Marine Engineer's Certification with highest credits (1977). A born educator, he was the winner of Harry Lee Award for presenting the best Diesel Engine Seminar in Australia (1995, 1996).
